Immerse yourself in the experience of a boutique accommodation that incorporates art and local culture in an eclectic space on the coast of Canggu.

Nestled in the heart of Canggu, just steps from Ecco Beach, THE SLOW is a new concept boutique hotel that’s a work of art in of itself. Similar to a glass of fine wine, THE SLOW wows you in the beginning and lingers long after the last sip. As stated on their website, “It’s a place to rest your bones, stir your senses, and expand your mind.”
Founders George Gorrow and Cisco Tschurtschenthaler collaborated with Rieky Sunur from GFAB Architects to design the space, which utilizes many local raw materials such as stone, woods, and metals. Dubbing the term “tropical brutalism”, the design and decor is old school meets new school swag. It’s hard not to fall in lust with the lush botanical chandeliers, simple yet sophisticated furniture, and wall candy everywhere you look. The art here is incredible. It’s a private collection, and you can see a list of the featured artists here.
The food? Delicious. The restaurant, called Eat & Drink, is open all day. And Head chef Shannon Moran makes magic in the kitchen using locally sourced seafood, veggies and other ingredients. We loved the crab sandwich, market fish, charred veggies and garden greens. And breakfast was bomb. Best we had in Bali.
The staff? Top notch. We got to know many of them by their first name. They were very kind and super smiley. It was contagious.
The music and vibes? Daydreamy. We really enjoyed how you could link up the lounge music–LA’s ReverbNation Radio– to your room, so you never have to leave the take-it-SLOW state of mind.
There’s no pool, but with the beach so close and rooftop cocktail lounge (perfect for sunset) it’s really not that big of a deal. And they actually do have 4 suites downstairs, each with it’s own private plunge pool, something to keep in mind if you’re a lounge-by-the-pool type.
THE SLOW is the new cool kid on the block in Canggu. It’s like your new favorite song you just want to blast on repeat. It’s artsy meets edgy, blended with modern minimalism, and sprinkled with just the right amount of grunge to create a curiously crafted cocktail you’ll want to sip on till sunrise.
