Sustainable Luxury in Trancoso
UXUA

In one the most beautiful coastal towns in Brazil, Trancoso Bahia, lays the exquisite and magical UXUA. The hotel is a former village and the Casas, or houses, are converted fisherman dwellings that have been beautifully redesigned in collaboration between the local craftsman and designer Wilbert Das – former Creative Director of Diesel.

At Uxua,  the 11 casas and 3 suites are decorated in local fabrics and boast reclaimed wooden furniture, open air bathrooms looking onto private gardens, and exuberant wildlife. The white washed walls are the perfect canvas to display the beautiful indigenous art from local Amazon tribes. The whole enterprise has been committed to its sustainable, eco and low impact ethos.

The swimming pool was holistically designed in blue quartz and is truly a magical place to rebalance your energy – after having the wonderful spa treatments offered at the hotel.

The setting is the king here – surrounded by lush rain forest and turquoise warm seas of Bahia.  Head to the hotel’s beach lounge, also a restored original fisherman’s bar, for your share of caipirinha – blessed always by Iemanjá, the Goddess of the sea.

This area is where the Portuguese first arrived after months at sea – legend says they thought they had died and arrived in paradise. Maybe it will be also the beginning of your love affair with Brazil.
