Only one hour south of Lisbon, Comporta is one of Portugal?s most unspoilt and alluring beach destinations: turquoise water and a 80 km sandy beach is what its natural reserve offers.  The architect Manuel Aires Mateus has shaped a four thatched beach huts complex, called Casas Na Areia, where nature, minimalist white and primitive force coexist. Four bungalows, each offering a double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms fully equipped amenities, and an open plan / dining area, suitable for group holidays in the heart of Portugal. Refined design brands, like Gervasoni, stands next to African art and design in the cabins made of local and regional materials, like natural wattle and bulrush, used for walls and roof, and of course a carpet of fine sand. Ten minutes walk from the house a wooden fishing dock, Porto Palafita, serves as as the hub of the local fishing community. Elegant and simple, Casas Na Areia is a project about aesthetic and fidelity to the landscape.
